Playing in the mud

We have finally started mudding the drywall today. It has been a very long month of putting the drywall up (and sometimes taking it back down). The early days were quite dysfunctional but we made it through.  I never thought I would hear myself say I’m looking forward to mudding but here we are.

The pretty blue bathroom drywall is also complete but the Kerdi Board that provides the waterproofing behind the tile has been left for another day since I already know we are going to run out of screws.

Our view yesterday on the final drywall putting up day was quite pretty.

And today we played in the mud.

Speaking of mud, we took a few days off to go to Ikea for kitchen cabinets about three weeks ago. While we were away there was flooding on our little island like no one has seen before. The insurance companies are calling it a 400 year event. Thankfully our house was dry but the front yard was a little squishy.

WD has been absent from the build because of all the mud outside and drywall mess inside. If he was there he might not enjoy all the visitors who wander through. Here is the latest guy to grace our front step.

It really is starting to feel like a house now and not just a construction site. I can see the end. Hopefully we don’t wear ourselves right out before we get there.
