Lots to ponder about Pender

With the extra time off around Easter, we decided to get down and explore Pender Island.

There are about 2500 full time residents and many more in the summer. It has a decent base of services and lots of public beach access. A 40 min ferry ride to Victoria, just over 2 hrs to the mainland and access to all the other southern Gulf Islands as well make this an appealing place indeed.

We stayed at the Inn on Pender. I didn’t know when I booked that it had been sold and the new owners take over next week. It didn’t impact our stay at all except that the new owner plans to rent out Airstreams and we had to park beside one of the glorious beasts and drool the whole time.

Here are some of the sights around the island.

There are lots of trails to explore if you have the time.

Hope Bay is one of the little shopping and dining areas.

Bricky Beach is similar to one on Gabriola. The bricks on the beach are all that is left of the old brick factory.

I think I could live here. . .

  1. So beautiful – thanks for the daffodil pics – our will be out soon (OK, maybe in a month!). I love the bricky beach pic – astounding they just left the bricks laying around on the beach like that. Thanks for your post – very much enjoyed by the Bear & I
