Today’s milestone – first piece of drywall up

I know I must finally be insane when it feels this good to see the single sheet of heavy and disgustingly dusty drywall up on the ceiling. Thankfully we have the use of a lifter to carry the dead weight and this was about the point in our usage lesson that we were instructed to walk away and have a coffee.  Hopefully the rest of them go a little faster than the first.

Our sewer is now hooked up. After a lot of digging and then a lot of rain we now have pit of quicksand to contend with to get into the house.

Oh sure it looks all innocent, especially with the break in the rain, but it really sucks you in.

We gained a bit more flat area after the trenches were filled back in but also lost some privacy toward the neighbour below. Strategic planting will have to happen once we are actually living here.

It would be really nice if the weather would cooperate so we could finish off the outside stuff before it gets colder. In the meantime here is a sneak peak of some of the other pieces to the siding puzzle.

Can’t wait to see it all come together. I hope it turns out as imagined.
