Yay for sun. We’re finally getting stuff done.

It feels like forever since we have had a decent stretch of weather. Given most of our remaining work is outside, it is necessary to have a few days without rain. We have some pretty amazing neighbours around us. One such neighbour has given us a bunch of plants and shrubs to get a bit of a garden started.

This mock orange tree is on several lists of deer proof plants but we have a half tame deer who’s decided it tastes pretty good.

We thought the deer were going to be the biggest threat to the survival of these plants, then along came a chicken who scratched up two of them before I convinced her to move on. The not so helpful WD inspected the carnage and then proceeded to chew on another of the shrubs. Granted it is very stick-like at the moment because the deer have already eaten all the larger leaves off of it.

With all this nice weather we have finally managed to get the corrugated metal on the front and the back.

The rest of the front is the shou sugi ban cedar that we charred up in the fall. I can’t wait to see it all come together. It’s so very close.
